The Pet Affaire

New here?

Your first visit, start to finish.

If you're new to grooming, new to the neighborhood, or new to us, this page has everything. Five minutes of reading, no surprises on the day.

  1. 01

    Book a drop-off time

Pick a morning slot online. New clients fill in a short intake so we know your pet's breed, weight, coat, and temperament before you arrive.

  2. 02

    Drop off, 7:30 – 10:30 AM

Bring vaccination records the first time. Rod does a quick coat and skin check with you, confirms the price, and you're off.

  3. 03

    While you're away

A text on arrival, a text mid-groom, a text when they're ready. If anything changes, you hear it before it happens, not after.

  4. 04

    Pick up at 2 PM

Hand-checked, brushed, and calm. Come by anytime after 2. We don't kennel, so your pet isn't waiting in a crate.

What to bring

Three things.

  • Vaccination records

Dogs: rabies and DHPP. Cats: FVRCP. A photo on your phone is fine. First visit only, then we keep it on file.

  • A reference photo

If you have a look in mind, show us. "Like last time but shorter" works too. If you don't know, Rod will suggest something that suits the coat.

  • The honest version

Nervous around clippers? Hates the dryer? Bit someone once? Tell us. It changes how we work and it's never a reason to say no.

The small print

Good to know.

  • Hours. Tuesday to Saturday. Drop-off 7:30 – 10:30 AM, pickup 2 PM. Closed Sunday and Monday.
  • One pet at a time. Every groom gets full attention from check-in to pickup. It also means slots are limited, so book ahead.
  • Cancellations. Free up to 24 hours before. Inside 24 hours or no-show, 50% of the booked service.
  • Parking. Street parking on Lincoln and the side streets. We're just south of Pico. Look for the sign and walk in.

Questions

Things new clients ask.

  • How much will it cost? +

Prices start at the numbers on our services page and go up with size, breed, and coat condition. You get the final number at drop-off, before we start. If anything changes mid-groom, we call before doing it.

  • How often should my pet be groomed? +

Most doodles, poodles, and other curly coats: every 4 – 6 weeks. Double-coated breeds: a bath and de-shed every 6 – 8 weeks. Long-haired cats: every 6 – 8 weeks. We'll suggest a rhythm at your first visit.

  • My dog is anxious. Is that a problem? +

No. Anxious, shy, and rescue dogs are a big part of who we see. One pet at a time, a quiet room, slow handling, and we stop if we need to. Tell us in the intake what helps and what doesn't.

  • What if my pet is matted? +

Light matting combs out. Matting close to the skin is painful to brush, so the kind option is a shorter cut. We'll explain before we do anything, and we never charge for de-matting we shouldn't be doing.

  • Can I stay and watch? +

Most pets do better without their person in the room — they settle faster. You're welcome to see the space at drop-off, and the texts keep you in the loop.

  • What if I need to cancel? +

Free up to 24 hours before. Inside 24 hours, or a no-show, is a 50% fee. One groomer and one table means a missed slot can't be filled.

That's everything.

Pick a drop-off time and fill in the short intake. Rod will confirm.
